Website Builder DetectorPrivacy Policy

Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 21, 2026

The short version: Website Builder Detector does not collect, store, transmit, or share any data. Everything runs locally in your browser. There are no accounts, no analytics, no tracking, and no external network requests.

What the extension does

Website Builder Detector identifies the CMS or website builder behind the websites you visit. It does this by analyzing structural page elements — meta tags, script sources, link elements, and data attributes — that are already loaded in your browser.

Data collection

This extension collects no data whatsoever. It does not collect personal information, browsing history, page content, form inputs, cookies, or any other type of data. There is no user account, no login, and no registration.

Data storage

Detection results are temporarily stored in your browser's session storage (chrome.storage.session) so the popup can display results when you click the extension icon. This data exists only in your browser's memory, is never written to disk, and is automatically cleared when you close the browser. No data is persisted between sessions.

Data transmission

This extension makes zero network requests. All detection logic is bundled locally within the extension package. No data is sent to external servers, APIs, analytics platforms, or any third party. The extension works entirely offline once installed.

Third-party services

This extension does not use any third-party services, SDKs, analytics tools, or tracking scripts. There are no ads, no telemetry, and no crash reporting.

Permissions

The extension requests the following browser permissions, each used solely for its core functionality:

activeTab — to access the currently active tab when you click the extension icon or trigger a re-scan. Only the tab you are actively viewing is accessed.

scripting — to inject the detection script that reads structural page signatures. No page content is modified.

storage — to temporarily cache detection results in session-only browser storage so the popup can display them instantly.

host_permissions (<all_urls>) — to allow the detection script to run on any website. This is essential for the extension's purpose of identifying website builders across all sites. No data from any site is collected or transmitted.

Children's privacy

This extension does not collect any information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. There is no data collection mechanism of any kind.

Changes to this policy

If this privacy policy is updated, the changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Since the extension collects no data, meaningful changes to this policy are unlikely.
